I know this space has devolved into a cozy nest for my letters, but this has to be shared. While the whistling here is unfrickin’ believable, it’s the eye contact Whittiker makes with the camera that made this a “must share vid.”
Jon Kabatt-Zinn is deep afield, and his footsteps are fun to follow. This was a hard letter to write and I don’t think I did the best job of it, but I’m glad to have tried.
The story about the 44,000 wild horses in captivity destined for slaughter was sad and complicated and drew me to the typewriter like the ocean towards the moon.
This letter was 42 inches long and 12.5 wide. The clouds are from an unpublished series by Natural Curiosities, who I’m hoping will one day make these things into a book.
Ted Ward is a controversial figure in direct marketing and the ad game in general. While he boasts the distinct claim to fame of having dreamt up the GEICO gecko, internet gossip about on-set behavior and general attitude don’t paint him in the best light. But to me, Ted Ward is a man to whom I’ve written three great letters who returns the favor by sending me a constant stream of bullshit. Here’s our journey, his letters omitted because they’re way more boring than mine, which are pretty good.

A life I’m leading in somewhere in the multiverse has a tendency to bleed through a little. It comes in the form of letters written to strangers, which is funny, because that’s something I enjoy in this incarnation as well.
